Hospitality

Hospitality Industry

The hospitality industry knows the importance of cleaning facilities after each guest. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the cleaning process just became the most important aspect of their job. Whether it’s a hotel, restaurant, or bar making sure surfaces are cleaned with a spray and rag, cleaning has always been part of the job. Now that the hospitality industry is in the midst of a pandemic there have been changes in housekeeping, food safety and guest check-in and out. It is estimated that the hospitality industry as a whole has lost around 7 million in revenue since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keeping Restaurants and Hotels Safe

Like many other industries, the hospitality industry is making adjustments to keep customers and employees safe. Hygiene managers are becoming the new normal in hotels to make sure proper cleaning and disinfection measures are taken. These managers are hired to make sure new cleaning protocols are executed. Areas like entrances, lobbies, front desks, elevators, restaurants, lounges and fitness centers are receiving hospital-grade disinfection. Forms of personal protective equipment are required in parts of the hotel and staff who are feeling even the slightest bit under the weather are encouraged to stay home.

Shelborne South Beach – Reopens: Cleaned with Confidence

In preparation for its reopening on October 1, 2020, the Shelborne South Beach is taking steps to ensure the safety of its guests and staff with the launch of its new “cleaned with confidence” seal of assurance. The hotel has been closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization’s statements regarding the COVID-19 and is working hard to ensure that all guidelines on hygiene and cleanliness are met, using cutting-edge EMist equipment to clean guestrooms and public areas, while also deploying hand sanitizers.

During this time and going forward, the hotel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting public spaces, with a focus on high-touch areas such as the counter at the front desk, elevators (and elevator buttons), door handles, public bathrooms, the fitness center, and even room keys. The hotel’s housekeeping staff also performs a deep cleaning of guestrooms, with particular attention paid to remote controls, light switches, lamps, and bathroom fixtures, leaving no detail unsanitized.

Hospitality Statistics

Hotels saw their average occupancy in March go from close to 68% in 2019 to around 39% in 2020. They now are releasing new cleanliness protocol programs that include sanitization stations, reducing the number of high touch areas, and sealing rooms with tape that signals they have been disinfected. Pricing flexibility in pricing, and social distance friendly meal services have been added as well.

Restaurants and bars now have easy access to hand sanitizer and sanitization wipes, as well akeeping tables six feet apart and limiting the number of people per table. Menus are now accessible through QR codes. They are also allowing a limited number of patrons inside at a time, in hopes of keeping more people safe. Restaurants and bars are emphasizing thorough sanitation using a disinfectant solution, not just water and a rag. Doorknobs, bathroom surfaces, kitchen counters, tables, and chairs are all sanitized frequently.

Preventing the spread of germs

With the large number of people who filter in and out of hotels, restaurants, and bars it’s easy to see why they now require that every high touch point be properly and thoroughly disinfected. The EMist® Electrostatic Disinfectant System makes it easier to prevent the spread of infection inside these places. It allows you to quickly and effectively disinfect those high touch areas that are known to lead to the spread of germs.

TruElectrostatic for TruDisinfection™.

Our EMist® system applies disinfectant solutions with its patented technology to surfaces using electrostatic induction charging. The liquid droplets are positively charged by the spray system which is then driven to the surface target area in a consistent manner allowing for comprehensive uniform coverage. Simply put, our technology applies more evenly, sticks to surfaces like a magnet, and reduces waste drastically.
